This is a collection of three of Ruskin’s “most important” lectures of the 1860s, focusing on “the pleasures of reading and the sphere of women” (DNB). Writer, critic, and artist John Ruskin was perhaps the greatest influence on public taste in Victorian England. The first edition was published in 1865.
