MOTHER TERESA. Typed letter signed. Calcutta, no date. Single sheet of paper with reproduced prayer card on verso, measuring 6-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches. $3500.
Prayer card from the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta featuring a typed letter offering the recipient Easter-related sentiments, signed: “M Teresa MC.”
The typed letter reads in full: "+LDM Dear Estelle, This brings you my prayers and God's blessing. How wonderful that God's love can transform darkness into light, despair into hope, and our daily dying into His Resurrection in our hearts, in our lives and in the world. Let this thought fill us with joy in a special way at Easter. A very holy and happy Easter to you. I am praying much for you. God bless you. [signed] M Teresa MC." Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. Thirty years prior, the Albanian nun had left her teaching post at a Roman Catholic school in Calcutta to devote her life to working among the poorest in the slums. In 2016, she was canonized by Pope Francis as Saint Teresa of Calcutta. With a printed image of Mother Teresa and a printed quote from Isaiah on the verso.
