FIRST EDITION OF TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, INSCRIBED BY MCMURTRY
MCMURTRY, Larry. Terms of Endearment. New York: Simon and Schuster, (1975). Octavo, original half brown cloth, original dust jacket. $1850.
First edition of McMurtry’s popular novel, boldly inscribed by him to rare book dealer Roswitha Mott, "For Roswitha my favorite. Larry McMurtry."
One of McMurtry's best and most popular novels, Terms of Endearment was adapted into a 1983 film that won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Recipient Roswitha Mott is a member of the family that has run the antiquarian book business Howard S. Mott since 1936. McMurtry's well-known engagement with the rare book trade began in his twenties as a book scout, and he ran his own book store, Booked Up, for over 40 years.
One spot of faint soiling to dust jacket spine. A very nearly fine copy.
