Autograph letter signed by Robert Browning declining an invitation, handsomely framed with a photographic portrait.
The letter reads in full: "19 Warwick Crescent / Feb. 28, '78. Dear Mr. G—-, I beg to thank you exceedingly for your kind invitation, and to say how sorry I am that it finds me already engaged. Pray offer my best wishes to Mrs. G—-, and believe me yours very truly, Robert Browning." By the time of this letter, Browning was at the height of his fame, one of the luminaries of English literature, having published Men and Women, Dramatis Personae and The Ring and the Book in the decades prior.
With expected fold lines, a bit of soiling. Handsomely framed.
