The significance of Wright's architectural theory, as dramatically illustrated by this complete collection of portfolios, "lies in the fact that his recourse to technology was always tempered by a reference to what was natural, organic, and humane" (Kruft, 429). "Wright had an impact on American culture and global architecture of a magnitude that posterity has only begun to grasp" (ANB). These 150 color plates span Wright's career, from his "prairie period" to his utopian design for Broadacre City and include such iconic works as Fallingwater, the Robie House, the Guggenheim Museum and the Johnson Wax Headquarters. Volume I is the New York issue, number A117 of only 500 copies; Volume II is the New York issue, number A559 of only 700 copies; Volume III is the Tokyo issue, number A214 of only 500 copies. A pristine set.
