RUGER & HIS GUNS

R. L. WILSON. Ruger & His Guns, A History of the Man, the Company and Their Firearms. New York: Simon & Schuster, (1999). Large oblong quarto, original red cloth, original pictorial dust jacket.

Charlton Heston's fine presentation copy of this 1999 Limited Edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Ruger's famed firearm company, inscribed to him by Ruger ("To Charlton Heston: Here's to us — and all we stand for! Bill Ruger), with additional signatures of author R. L. Wilson, William Ruger, Jr., and Ruger Corporate Secretary Leslie Gasper.

In 1949, William Batterman Ruger founded the company along with Alexander Sturm, who died of hepatitis at age 28 in 1951. Ruger transferred the presidency to his son, William B. This lavish production features more than 185 color photographs and over 100 black and white illustrations, appendix listing serial numbers for all models by year of manufacture, and table of firearm markings. Ruger's unique presentation inscription to Heston, NRA President from 1998 through 2003, is on the title page. A tipped-in Limited Edition commemorative certificate carries the signatures of Sturm, Ruger & Co. President William B. Ruger, Jr., Corporate Secretary Leslie Gasper, and author R.L. Wilson. With R.L. Wilson advertising brochure.

Small stain to front cloth, otherwise fine in a fine dust jacket.
