The Philadelphia Liberty Medal—now known as the National Constitution Center's Liberty Medal—has been awarded yearly on the Fourth of July to "men and women of courage and conviction who strive to secure the blessings of liberty for people around the globe." Past recipients have included Lech Walesa, Jimmy Carter, Thurgood Marshall and Vaclav Havel, with the most recipient, in 2026, being Pope Leo XIV.
