Signed limited first edition, number 23 of only 250 copies printed on Croxley handmade paper and signed by Carl Van Vechten.

Best known as a journalist and photographer focusing on New York and Chicago society, culture, and the Harlem Renaissance, Carl Van Vechten published his first novel in 1922. “In all his novels of the 1920s [including] Parties, he portrayed restless, ‘frivolous’ people running away from boredom to seek new adventures” (ANB). “Dealing with a group of sophisticated New York idlers” (Hart, 788), this novel also contains “a rather ill-disguised portrait of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald” (Stringer, 688). Small owner stamp.
