Presumed Innocent

PRESUMED INNOCENT, FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY TUROW

TUROW, Scott. Presumed Innocent. New York: Farrar Straus Giroux, 1987. Octavo, original half black cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of the novel that “virtually invented the contemporary legal thriller” (New York Times), inscribed by the author on the title page, “Best wishes, Scott Turow.”

At the time of publication the New York Times reported that “Farrar, Straus & Giroux… purchased Presumed Innocent for $200,000, the most it has ever paid for a first novel. The first edition of the book will run to 135,000 copies, an indication that the publisher expects a best seller.” The book did indeed become a bestseller, and made its way to the silver screen in 1990, starring Harrison Ford.

Price-clipped dust jacket with only lightest rubbing and toning. An about-fine inscribed copy.
