"A LOVE LETTER TO HIS ITALIAN CULINARY HERITAGE, HIS WIFE'S CLASSIC ENGLISH COOKING": LIMITED FIRST EDITION OF THE TUCCI TABLE, SIGNED BY STANLEY TUCCI

TUCCI, Stanley and BLUNT, Felicity. The Tucci Table. New York: Gallery Books, (2014). Square quarto, original half gray paper boards, original dust jacket.

First edition, first printing, of the award-winning actor's celebration of food and family, signed by Stanley Tucci on the publisher's tipped-in limitation leaf, limitation unspecified, richly illustrated with nearly 100 full and double-page color illustrations.

The Tucci Table is "a love letter to his Italian culinary heritage, his wife's classic English cooking, and all the people who matter most in their lives" (The Times). "Best known for his roles in films like The Lovely Bones, Julie & Julia and The Devil Wears Prada… Tucci grew up in a family where people were cooking all the time. But it wasn't until making Big Night… that his food obsession really took shape" (Los Angeles Times). This colorful and profusely illustrated cookbook was co-authored with his wife, British literary agent Felicity Blunt. Throughout, it become clear that "Tucci's mission is not only a matter of food but also of ritual. The dinner table, he reminds us, 'is a place where we share the events of our day, our feelings, our stories, our memories.'" The book, which includes anecdotes from Tucci and his wife, and shared recipes from families and friends, is a rich and substantial mix drawn from "a lifetime of meals… there is a quintessentially English Yorkshire Pudding; a beer-based Belgian Carbonnade de Boeuf; a Spanish-inspired seafood paella (it begins: 'First toast the saffron'); and a savory Italian braised rabbit with tomatoes, white wine and fennel. (Rabbit has 'all but disappeared from the American table,' he notes, 'which is unfortunate'" (Wall Street Journal). First edition, first printing: signed by Stanley Tucci on the publisher's tipped-in leaf, which states: "This signed limited edition… has been specially bound by the publisher": limitation unspecified. First-issue dust jacket with publisher's "Signed Copy" circular label on front panel. Co-authored with Kay Plunkett-Hogge.

A fine copy.
