Autograph edition, one of only 565 copies, signed by Tarkington in Volume 1, containing frontispiece portraits and plates, handsomely bound by Strikeman in three-quarter morocco gilt.

This splendid limited edition of Booth Tarkington's Works features his first published work, The Gentleman from Indiana, which made him "the most famous young man in America," and classics such as The Two Vanrevels, The Quest of Quesnay, The Flirt, Penrod, Pendord and Sam, In the Arena, The Turmoil, The Conquest of Canaan, Seventeen, The Magnificent Ambersons and Ramsey Milholland, together with major short works such as Monsieur Beaucaire, Harlequin and Columbine, The Beautiful Lady, His Own People and many more. Tarkington, who died in 1946, twice won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature and was beloved for his portrayal of American life in works that possess a "lightness of touch… a profound grasp of the human foibles" (New York Times).
