Winner of the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for drama, Sondheim and Lapine's imaginative recreation of the circumstances surrounding Georges Seurat's 1886 painting "Dimanche, Après-Midi à l'Ile de la Grande Jatte" ("A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte") "celebrates both the bountiful chaos of life and the forms used to make sense of it" (New York Times). Illustrated with a portrait of Seurat and 16 pages of black-and-white photographs from the original Broadway production. Also issued in a signed/limited edition of 250 copies, no priority established.
