Program for the 1994 Republican National Committee annual gala dinner, that year featuring a birthday celebration of President Reagan, inscribed by him, "To Jim Barnes—With Best Wishes. Ronald Reagan."
This February 3, 1994 event, with speeches by both Reagan and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, would prove to be Reagan's last public speech. Nine months later, after slowly disappearing from the public stage for months, Reagan announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
