JULY 1966 ISSUE OF THE OBJECTIVIST, SIGNED AND DATED BY AYN RAND

RAND, Ayn and BRANDEN, Nathaniel, editors. The Objectivist. Volume 5, Number 7. New York: The Objectivist, 1966. Octavo, staple-bound as issued, original teal paper wrappers; pp. 16.

First edition of the July 1966 issue of Ayn Rand’s Objectivist newsletter, featuring articles by Rand and Alan Greenspan, as well as The Objectivist Calendar, signed and dated on the first page of text: “Ayn Rand 7/12/73.”

In her opening essay For the New Intellectual (1961), Ayn Rand wrote of a new affinity for non-fiction in pursuit of her philosophy of Objectivism. Following a lecture series organized by Nathaniel Branden in 1958, the two founded a four-page monthly Objectivist Newsletter in 1962, which they expanded in 1966 into a monthly magazine called The Objectivist that continued until September 1971. This July 1966 issue of The Objectivist features an article by Rand entitled, “Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology,” as well as as a well-known piece by Alan Greenspan called, “Gold and Economic Freedom.” Also included is “The Objectivist Calendar.” See Perinn C6, C12a. This copy is from the collection of Gary and Dorothy Miller, who were book collectors, and to whom Ayn Rand had inscribed other works.

A couple smudges of ink from printing process. A fine signed copy.
