KING'S BENCH CASES, 1790 THROUGH 1794

(GREAT BRITAIN. Court of King's Bench) PEAKE, Thomas, Jr. Cases Determined at Nisi Prius, in the Court of King's Bench. From the Sittings after Easter Term 30 George III. to the Sittings after Michaelmas Term 35 George III. London: Printed by A. Strahan and W. Woodfall for E. and R. Brooke, 1795. First edition, collecting trial reports from 1790 through 1794, on a wide range of topics.

In documenting these previously unpublished cases, Peake "stated those circumstances which appeared to me to affect the question before the Court; where arguments have been urged, I have attempted to report them; and when any portion of the pleadings was necessary to elucidate the case, of such it has been my endeavour to give a faithful abstract." Among the proceedings are Reddie v. Scoolt (a complaint against the Reverend Scoolt for having seduced and discarded a 19-year-old girl) and an action against the East India Company over the fate of the ship Vansittart. With half title. Printed in the same year in Dublin and in Hartford, Connecticut. ESTC T95883. Sweet & Maxwell I, 335. Inked owner's name on front flyleaf.

Contents clean; binding with light to moderate rubbing and scuffing. A very nice copy of an uncommon item.
