"SHE GOT EVIL IN EVERY POCKET": FIRST EDITION OF DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS, INSCRIBED BY WALTER MOSLEY

MOSLEY, Walter. Devil in a Blue Dress. New York: W.W. Norton, (1990). Octavo, original half orange cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition, first printing of Mosley's first novel, the debut of detective Easy Rawlins, boldly inscribed by him on the title page, "For G—, Walter Mosley," basis for the 1995 film starring Denzel Washington.

"Mosley writes in a talking-blues style that is its own kind of music" (New York Times). In creating his popular, hardboiled African-American private eye, Mosley presents "a sort of social history that doesn't exist in other detective fiction" (Chronicle of American Literature). Denzel Washington starred in the 1995 film adaptation.

A fine copy.
