In the 1920s and 30s, Morley "was perhaps the most widely known professional man of letters in the United States" (DAB). His editorial career included positions with the publisher Doubleday, Page, Ladies' Home Journal and Saturday Review of Literature, of which he was one of the founders. Bookplate.
