“ROCKY MARCIANO AND I ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU”: ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF MAX BAER AND MARCIANO, INSCRIBED BY BAER

BAER, Max. Original photograph, inscribed to Larry Cameron. Oakland, California: Albert “Kayo” Harris, 1957. Original 8 by 10 inch glossy photograph.

Vintage candid photograph of heavyweight champions Max Baer and Rocky Marciano, inscribed, “Larry, ‘Rocky’ Marciano and I are talking about you on my radio show and how you are the Pontiac ‘Champion.’ Good luck, your pal, Max Baer. 1957.”

The recipient of this inscribed photograph was championship rodeo rider Robert “Larry” Cameron, close friend of heavyweight boxer Maxie Baer, who was engaged by Cameron as a spokesman and celebrity “salesman” for his Sacramento auto dealership. Following his boxing career, Max also hosted two successful radio programs, “The Max Baer Show” and a “Sunday Breakfast” show, both broadcast live from various popular restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. The shows included musical performances and interviews. This candid photograph captures Max’s “on air” interview with former heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano, who had retired the previous year, undefeated. Photographer’s stamp and serial number on the verso.

A fine inscribed photograph of two great champions.
