Limited first edition, number 429 of an unknown limitation, of this collection of sketches about great magicians and their famed tricks.

With entries on over 30 magicians—including Houdini, Maskelyne, and Chung Ling Soo—and detailed explanations of 88 mystifying tricks, among them “Sawing a Horse in Half,” “The Divination Miracle,” “and “Chris Van Bern’s Quick Surprise.” With a frontispiece caricature portrait of Goldston. Illustrated with numerous photographs of magicians and in-text illustrations detailing the tricks themselves. This limited edition was issued in the same style as Goldston’s famous “Locked Books” series, but without the clasp.

Stains to half title. A fine copy of this wonderful compendium of magic.
