"BRINGS TO LIFE A VIVID PORTRAIT OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ERA": MARCH, THE COMPLETE TRILOGY, HARDCOVER ISSUES, SIGNED BY CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS AND HIS CO-AUTHORS ANDREW AYDIN AND NATE POWELL IN ALL THREE VOLUMES

LEWIS, John, AYDIN, Andrew and POWELL, Nate. March. Marietta, Georgia: Top Shelf, 2013-16. Three volumes. Octavo, original pictorial laminated boards. $2500.

First editions, hardcover issues, of the best-selling three-volume graphic novel, each signed by John Lewis and his co-authors Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell. Volume I first trade edition, hardcover issue, signed and dated in the year of publication "9/14/13" by all three authors on the dedication page; Volume II is the signed limited edition, number 317 of 500, signed by the three authors on the publisher's "library card" laid into the publisher's "library pocket" affixed to the front pastedown; Volume III also the signed limited edition, number 289 of 500 signed on a tipped-in extra title page printed on stiff card which has been signed by the three authors.

"March is one of the most important graphic novels ever created—an extraordinary presentation of an extraordinary life, and proof that young people can change the world. I'm stunned by the power of these comics, and grateful that Congressman Lewis' story will enlighten and inspire future generations of readers and leaders" (Raina Telgemeier). Praised on publication as "a riveting and beautiful civil rights story" (Washington Post), "March deserves to be placed alongside other historical graphic memoirs like Persepolis and Maus" (Entertainment Weekly). John Lewis' "brave acts of civil disobedience… (give) March its educational value even as Powell's drawings give Lewis' crisp narration an emotional power" (New York Times). All volumes first printings. Volume I is the trade edition; a signed limited edition of 500 copies was issued the same year.

Fine condition. A desirable set, signed in all three volumes by all three authors.
