Diplomacy

INSCRIBED BY KISSINGER TO THE DIRECTOR OF THE MORGAN LIBRARY AND THE FRICK COLLECTION

KISSINGER, Henry. Diplomacy. New York: Simon & Schuster, (1994). Octavo, original half blue cloth, original dust jacket.

First trade edition, inscribed to the former director of both the Pierpont Morgan Library and the Frick Collection: “To Charles Ryskamp. Every good wish, Henry A. Kissinger.”

Kissinger’s history of diplomacy in politics, from Richelieu to Gorbachev. Published the same year as a signed limited edition of 2500 copies. The person to whom this copy is inscribed, Charles Ryskamp, was a professor of 18th-century British literature at Princeton, who curated their English and American literature collections. During the course of his career, he went on to head both the Pierpont Morgan Library and the Frick Collection. He was also a distinguished art collector.

A fine inscribed copy.
