FIRST EDITION OF THINNER, INSCRIBED BY STEPHEN KING
(KING, Stephen). BACHMAN, Richard. Thinner. New York and Scarborough, Ontario: New American Library, (1984). Octavo, original half black cloth, original dust jacket.
First edition of the final work to be published under King’s “Richard Bachman” pseudonym, inscribed, “‘Richard Bachman’ Stephen King 4/4/85.”
Thinner was the last of five novels King published under the pseudonym “Richard Bachman.” It was also the first Bachman novel to appear in hardcover. Although the dust jacket sports a photograph of “Richard Bachman” and carries the dedication, “To my wife, Claudia Inez Bachman,” King’s disguise broke in 1985, the same year as the date of his inscription here. With band around dust jacket, released by the publisher once “Bachman’s” identity had been revealed.
A fine copy, scarce inscribed.
