Limited first edition of this entry in a distinguished series of imaginative fiction anthologies, marking the first publication of the Stephen King short story "Stationary Bike." Editors Elizabeth and Thomas Monteleone won a Bram Stoker Award in 2003 for the collection, and Adam Corbin Fusco's story "N0072-JK1" was included in The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror: Seventeenth Annual Collection in 2004 after making its first appearance here. The anthology was later retitled From the Borderlands: Stories of Terror & Madness for the trade edition. King's story was later collected in his fifth collection of short stories, Just After Sunset. Several short films have been based on the story, which Publishers Weekly described as "a deft blend of paranoid fantasy and social satire."
