SIGNED LIMITED FIRST EDITION OF THE BEST OF CEMETERY DANCE, ONE OF 400 COPIES SIGNED BY 64 CONTRIBUTORS INCLUDING STEPHEN KING AND DEAN KOONTZ

CHIZMAR, Richard, editor. The Best of Cemetery Dance. Baltimore: Cemetery Dance, 1998. Thick octavo, original maroon leatherette, original dust jacket, original slipcase. $1650.

Signed limited first edition of this anthology of dark fiction from the premiere horror magazine Cemetery Dance, number 59 of 400 copies signed by 64 contributors including Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Richard Laymon, Poppy Z. Brite, and many other masters of the genre.

These stories are drawn from the first 25 issues of Cemetery Dance, a leading horror magazine and winner of the World Fantasy Award. Hellnotes called this "the most important anthology of the decade, much less 1998!" The collection features short stories by authors such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Bentley Little, R.C. Matheson, Poppy Z. Brite, Nancy A. Collins, and Jack Ketchum, among many others. "This hefty and satisfying anthology is superbly representative of the state of contemporary horror and dark fantasy. Selections showcase the talents of leading luminaries whose work defines the art of darkness. An embarrassment of riches about which everyone can be proud" (Publishers Weekly). This volume contains King's short story "Chattery Teeth," which first appeared in Cemetery Dance magazine and was later collected in Nightmares & Dreamscapes. King sent the story in as an unsolicited submission to Richard Chizmar, founder of Cemetery Dance, a magazine founded in the spirit of "the old Twilight Zone TV show . . . King was a regular reader of the magazine, and when the story was published in the [1992] fall issue, his byline helped raise the profile of the magazine" (Haunted Heart: The Life and Times of Stephen King by Lisa Rogak).

A fine signed copy.
