INSCRIBED BY ROBERT CARO IN THE YEAR OF PUBLICATION

(JOHNSON, Lyndon Baines) CARO, Robert A. The Years of Lyndon Johnson: Master of the Senate. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2002. Octavo, original black cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of the third volume of Caro’s critically praised, Pulitzer Prize-winning, multi-volume biography of Lyndon Johnson, inscribed and signed by him on the front flyleaf in the year of publication: "For Jim Duffy—for auld lang syne, Robert A. Caro, April 20, 2002."

Caro was awarded the National Book Critics Circle Award for each of the first two volumes of his exhaustive biography, Path to Power and Means of Ascent (1982 and 1990, respectively), and the 2002 National Book Award and 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Biography (his second Pulitzer) for Master of the Senate, the third volume in his epic portrait of this mercurial, larger-than-life American president.

An about-fine inscribed copy.
