Original autograph letter written and signed by Christopher Isherwood to a fellow expat and fan, one Nelson Taylor of Santa Monica, California, identifying their shared British heritage and telling Taylor about the publication of a non-fiction book about his parents based on family letters and his mother's diary, handsomely framed with a photograph of Isherwood inscribed: "best wishes, Christopher Isherwood."

The signed autograph letter, written to Nelson Taylor of Santa Monica and dated "July 9, 1971," reads in full: "Thank you for your extremely kind letter. You describe yourself as a seventy year old Yorkshire man—well, I'm a sixty seven (next August 26) year old native of Cheshire (High Lane, near Stockport). In answer to your question, I am glad to be able to tell you I have a (non-fiction) book being published by Methuen this autumn, called 'Kathleen and Frank'—about my parents and partly consisting of their letters & my mother's diary. I hope you & your friends will like it. Yours sincerely, Christopher Isherwood." The letter has been framed with an inscribed photograph of Isherwood. Kathleen and Frank proved to be one of Isherwood's best loved works, a biographical love story between Isherwood's South African mother and Northern English father set in the decades before World War I.
