Lovely illuminated initial from a French missal, circa 1475-1500, scribed as a gold "B" on a floriated red and white ground with a left border of gilt buds and acanthus leaves.
This illuminated leaf is from a French illuminated missal, circa 1475-1500. The recto includes a very large letter "B" in gold on a red ground with a stylized design of white flowers and acanthus leaves. There is also a border along the left edge featuring blue acanthus leaves and gilt buds on a black-speckled background.
