HEIDE, Florence Parry. Treehorn's Treasure. New York: Holiday House, (1981). Oblong octavo, original cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of this tale illustrated by Edward Gorey, signed by him on the title page.

"Treehorn lives out of his closet where he keeps his comic books, baseball cards, bubble gum, and other daily needs. 'Money doesn't grow on trees,' pronounces his father, but sure enough one day Treehorn notices the leaves on a tree changing into dollar bills. He picks twenty-six and goes to the store to spend them on his favorite things. When he tries to share his discovery with others, Treehorn is ignored repeatedly, but remains undaunted in this cleverly amusing story." Toledano B66a.

A fine copy in a price-clipped dust jacket.
