GOLDMAN, William. Wigger. New York and London: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, (1974). Slim quarto, original burgundy cloth, original dust jacket. WITH: Laid-in autograph note (measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches) signed in manuscript hand on the recto. $650.

First edition of Goldman’s wonderful children’s story, published one year after The Princess Bride, inscribed by him in bright pink felt pen “For the Harris children. God bless us every one. William Goldman.” This copy accompanied by a laid-in autograph note from Goldman inscribed on the recto “Sincerely William Goldman, P.S. I promise to [word crossed out] use a better pen when I autograph.”

Academy Award-winner William Goldman followed his much-loved Princess Bride (1973) with this charming children's story of a young girl named Susanna, her devoted pink blanket named Wigger, a bank-robbing Santa Claus, and Susanna's rescue thanks to a very determined "wind on a mission." With illustrations by Erroll Le Cain.

A fine inscribed copy.
