Cook Book

"EACH RECIPE HOLDS A SPECIAL TREAT / IKE'S BEEF STEW IS HARD TO BEAT. / PAT NIXON'S DATE TORTE RING HAS THAT TOUCH / AND MAMIE'S APPLE PIE YOU'LL LIKE VERY MUCH"

GOESKE, Janet, compiler. Cook Book. Riverside, California: Riverside Federation of Republican Women, 1960. Quarto, spiral-bound as issued, original pictorial pink paper wrappers.

First edition of this collection of recipes by Republican politicians and their wives, compiled by the Riverside Federation of Republican Women as fundraiser.

Enriched by charming illustrations and evocative quotes, this GOP fundraising cookbook contains recipes from Republican Victory Chocolate Pie to Reception Salad, each sent by a Republican politician or his wife, often on government letterhead. The text has largely been reproduced photographically from the original letters sent to the compiler, philanthropist Janet Goeske, adding authenticity through the submitters' handwritten signatures and annotations.

Mild toning to edges, light wear and soiling to wrappers. An extremely good copy.
