"FOR ALLEN, MORE THAN 30 YRS FELLOW-TRAVELER, DHARMA MATE + FRIEND": LIMITED EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, OF WYOMING SERIES, ONE OF ONLY 250 COPIES, INSCRIBED TO POET ALLEN GINSBERG, WITH GINSBERG'S OWNER SIGNATURE

DI PRIMA, Diane. Wyoming Series. San Francisco: Eidolon Editions, 1988. Oblong octavo, hand-stitched as issued, original printed gray paper wrappers.

Limited edition, presentation copy, one of only 250 "regular edition" copies of this collection of poetry about Buddhism (out of a total edition of 300 copies), with lovely line drawings accompanying the text, inscribed on the title page in the year of publication to poet Allen Ginsberg: "For Allen, more than 30 yrs fellow-traveler, dharma mate & friend—w/love Diane di Parma. Boulder, June 28, 1988," with Ginsberg's owner signature.

Wyoming Series was inspired by di Prima's tenure as a Poet-in-the-Schools. Her work took her through the mountain states, introducing her to Indian reservations and the remnants of the Wild West. Some of her most powerful poems stem from this experience, combining the hardscrabble culture of the West with her own Beat poet sensibilities. This limited edition, printed by Dennis Woodard of Wooden Angel Press in Sacramento, comprises a regular edition of 250 signed and numbered copies (this copy is part of this edition, but it neither signed nor numbered on the colophon) and a special two-color edition of just 50 copies. This copy is inscribed by Diane di Prima to Allen Ginsberg. Di Prima and Ginsberg met during the mid-1960s. They went on to become two of the most famous poets of the Beat Generation. Di Prima and Ginsberg were both Buddhists—making this work of particular interest to Ginsberg. In fact, di Parma became deeply involved with Ginsberg during the early days of the Naropa University (a Buddhist-inspired liberal arts college in Boulder). Ginsberg co-founded the school's Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, which attracted Beat poets from all over the country including di Prima. Ginsberg has also signed this copy.

Only slightest toning and faint soiling to spine area. Very nearly fine condition.
