“Through all the succeeding movements… what survives, as it has always, in all arts and all ages, is—beauty” (Nancy Newhall). Ansel Adams, Nancy Newhall, Brett Weston and others founded the Friends of Photography in Carmel, California in 1967 to promote photographers and creative photography in the west. Over its 30-year history the Friends mounted many major exhibitions, published catalogues and monographs, and organized workshops and educational programs. These are the first two Portfolios the group produced “as a token of appreciation for the interest and support of the Friends.” Each portfolio is one of only 2500 copies produced.

A few faint marks to front cover of Portfolio I; bit of tape residue to front cover of Portfolio II. Near-fine condition.
