In this book, Irving Fisher urges America to join the League of Nations in order to prevent the outbreak of another world war. He advances the idea that America is responsible for promoting world peace and that America must be at the table to prevent punitive actions against losing nations and the build-up of war machinery in anticipation of future wars. Ultimately, it was precisely those actions that set the stage for World War II.
