Raised and educated in England, Abba Eban emigrated to Palestine after World War II. He played a key role in negotiations with the British government to grant Israel independent statehood. Among his many government positions, Eban served as Israel's first delegate to the United Nations, ambassador to the United States, and Foreign Minister. An acclaimed author, Eban is best known for his histories of the Jews, including My Country and Heritage: Civilization and the Jews (Encyclopedia Judaica V:343-44). My People, a sweeping account of Jewish history from the Patriarchs to 1968, is lavishly illustrated with over 125 photographs. Original slipcase with inked "181" on spine.
