First trade edition of Abba Eban's autobiography, signed by him.

Raised and educated in England, Eban emigrated to Palestine after World War II. He played a key role in negotiations with the British government to grant Israel independent statehood. Among his many government positions, Eban served as Israel's first delegate to the United Nations, ambassador to the United States, and Foreign Minister. An acclaimed author, Eban is best known for his histories of the Jews, including My People and Heritage: Civilization and the Jews. An Autobiography spans from Eban's childhood in England, through his years at Cambridge as both student and scholar, to the advent of Israeli statehood and the ensuing wars with Arab neighbors. "First Edition" stated on copyright page: with 16 pages of black-and-white photographic illustrations. Published same year as a signed limited edition (500 copies). Owner gift inscription.
