Second printing of this illustrated biography of World War II Flying Tiger ace David Lee “Tex” Hill, published one year after the first, signed by “Tex” on the front free endpaper.
“Tex” Hill resigned his commission as a naval aviator in 1941 to serve in Burma-China with the American Volunteer Group under Claire Chennault flying P-40 Warhawks. In seven months of combat following Pearl Harbor, he shot down 12 enemy aircraft and became squadron leader of the AVG’s 2nd Squadron. Upon disbandment of the AVG in 1942, Hill joined the Army Air Corps and went on to down another six enemy aircraft, bringing his total to 18 victories. With many photographic illustrations, and Foreword by Brigadier General Robert Lee Scott, also a World War II ace. First published in 2003 at the Honoribus Press in South Carolina. With printed copy of President George W. Bush’s 2002 letter accompanying Hill’s Distinguished Service Cross laid in.
