Salvador Dalí created a series of 105 paintings for an edition of the Bible entitled Biblia Sacra, commissioned by his friend and publisher Giuseppe Albareto and published in 1969. This English edition of The Jerusalem Bible features folio color reproductions of 32 of those paintings. The Jerusalem Bible was first published in English in 1966, "to serve two pressing needs facing the Church, the need to keep abreast of the times and the need to deepen theological thought" (Foreword). With eight pages of maps and plans at the rear, many in color, and eight pages of family registry (blank).
