SANTA'S BUSY DAY, FEATURING SEVEN INNOVATIVE POP-UPS AND MOVEABLES

(CHRISTMAS). Santa's Busy Day. [United States]: Polygraphic, 1953. Slim quarto, spiral-bound as issued, original pictorial paper wrappers.

Fascinating 1950s pop-up book about Santa searching all over the North Pole home for Blitzen, with seven lovely working pop-ups and moveables, many double-page.

This lovely 1950s Christmas book offers a new perspective on Santa and his reindeer. Written about the North Pole before Rudolph, Santa goes to the stable only to discover that one of his eight reindeer—Blitzen—has gone missing, resulting in a search through his toy shop, his gingerbread house, and more. This book features seven interesting and unusual moveables, including one integrated into the cover and one that includes six removable paper dolls of Santa's reindeer. Original child owner signature partially erased. Color-in Blitzen on verso of rear wrapper neatly colored in brown by child owner.

A few tiny tears to moveables not affecting function, very minor soiling to title page spread, slight gutter soiling to final pages, minor rubbing to rear wrapper. A scarce and desirable copy in extremely good condition.
