"I CAN MAKE ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS HAPPY ON CHRISTMAS DAY": FIRST EDITION OF SANTA CLAUS IN TOYLAND, 1951, WITH ONE POP-UP OF SANTA'S ELVES AND FIVE CHRISTMAS-THEMED MOVEABLES

(CHRISTMAS). Santa Claus in Toyland. [New York]: (Harry Doehla, 1951). Quarto, spiral-bound as issued, original pictorial paper boards with mounted plastic applique and moveable.

First edition of this Christmas pop-up book about Santa's workshop, with one pop-up of Santa's elves and five Christmas moveables, with original dimensional wrappers featuring a plastic applique of a snowy roof.

A charming Christmas story about the elves at Santa's workshop and their preparations for Christmas. All of the pop-ups and moveables are entirely intact and include: 1) a paper dial inset into the front cover depicting the elves in the workshop and Santa (and his reindeer) going down the chimney; 2) a raised springy moveable depicting whispering elves; 3) a pop-up of the elves; 4) a tab moveable allowing Santa to smile; 5) a paper dial-and-tab moveable of Santa's toy-making machine; and 6) a tab moveable depicting an electric train. Without scarce publisher's box.

All pop-ups and moveables entirely intact, mild offsetting to interior, scattered soiling, and a few rub marks to illustrations, faint glue discoloration at "snowy roof" attachments, wrappers bright. An extremely good copy.
