"THERE ARE MANY SURPRISES IN THIS BIOGRAPHY—AND ONE IS THAT BILL BRADLEY CHOSE TO BECOME A PRO BASKETBALL PLAYER"
(BRADLEY, Bill) HALTER, Jon C. Bill Bradley: One to Remember. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, (1975). Octavo, original pictorial red cloth, original dust jacket. $350.
First edition of this biography of Bill Bradley, intended for a general audience, signed by him on the title page.
While a student at Princeton, Bradley was widely considered to be the best college basketball player in the country when he was awarded a Rhodes scholarship in 1965 to Worcester College, Oxford; though drafted by the Knicks, he chose Oxford over New York, receiving a second bachelor's degree there in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Besides a stint playing basketball in Italy, Bradley spent his entire professional career—1967-77—playing for the Knicks. This biography, written near the end of his career, already highlights the possibility of a political career for the future Senator from New Jersey, noting that "many people are waiting for him to enter politics, just so they can learn a little more about this fascinating introverted individual."
Book with minor soiling to endpapers only, bright dust jacket with mild toning to rear panel, minor edge-wear, two faint stains to rear panel and rear flap. Extremely good condition.
