"A STRANGE, WILD AND EXHILARATING WORLD": FIRST EDITION OF S IS FOR SPACE, BOLDLY SIGNED AND DATED BY RAY BRADBURY

BRADBURY, Ray. S Is for Space. Garden City: Doubleday, 1966. Octavo, original blue cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of Bradbury's collection of 16 stories, signed and dated in blue felt pen by him, "Ray Bradbury 3/22/85," a splendid copy.

In his introduction to this collection of 16 stories, Bradbury writes: "Here you will find just about every side of my nature and my life… my ability to laugh out loud with the sheer discovery that I am alive in a strange, wild and exhilarating world." S for Space includes three never before published: "Chrysalis," "Pillar of Fire," and "Time in Thy Flight." "The Screaming Woman" was published in a different format in The Autumn People. Bradbury considered "The Million Year Picnic"—collected here, originally appearing in The Martian Chronicles—one of his favorite stories (see Barron II-155). "First Edition" stated on copyright page. Dust jacket flap with $3.50 price lined over.

Book fine; lightest edge-wear with tiny closed edge-tear to rear panel of about-fine dust jacket.
