(ILLUMINATED LEAF). Illuminated Leaf from a Book of Hours. Flanders, Belgium, circa 1480. Single vellum leaf (5-1/4 by 7 inches), illuminated in gold, red, green, white and blue inks; matted and window framed, entire piece measures 10 by 13 inches.

Beautiful illuminated leaf from Flemish Book of Hours, circa 1480, featuring two three-line initials on burnished gilt grounds, and elaborate borders with flowers and acanthus leaves.

This beautiful illuminated leaf features 18 lines of red and black gothic text from the Salve Regina, as well as two three-line blue and white decoratively filled initials on burnished gilt grounds and an elaborate border of flowers, acanthus leaves, hairline sprays, and green leaves. The verso is similar with two three-line initials, 18 lines of gothic text, and a similar border.

Mild toning to edges, slight wear to edge removed from book. Near-fine condition. Beautifully framed.
