Lovely illuminated initial from a French missal, circa 1475-1500, scribed as a blue and white filigree F on a floriated gilt ground, with section of floral border.
This illuminated leaf is from a French illuminated missal, circa 1475-1500. The recto includes a large letter "F" in blue and white filigree on a gilt ground decorated with a pink peony and a bud. A section of the left border is also included, which features two violets on leafy stems and gilt buds on a black-speckled ground.
