“CHEVROLET’S MOST ELEGANT FULL-SIZE MODELS FOR THE SPORTY SET”: VINTAGE, GENEROUSLY ILLUSTRATED 1964 CHEVROLET DEALERS’ SHOWROOM CATALOGUE

(AUTOMOTIVE) GENERAL MOTORS. There's 5 in 64. Chevrolet. Chevelle. Chevy II. Corvair. Corvette. Detroit, Michigan: Chevrolet Motor Division, General Motors Corporation, 1963. Oblong folio (12 by 14 inches), laminated plastic eight-ring binder, 112 pp.; spiral-bound fabric and paint samples affixed to interior of rear board.

Vintage Chevrolet dealers’ showroom catalogue, with over 200 color illustrations advertising the automotive giant’s 1964 model series, and with more than 100 upholstery and paint samples.

Car dealers used this catalogue and showroom sample book to steer customers toward purchasing a new Chevrolet. It presents detailed external and internal views of the Corvette ("America's sporty, luxurious road car"), Impala ("a revelation in tailored-for-pleasure going"), Biscayne ("enjoys the highest resale value of any car in its class"), Malibu ("Chevelle's young-at-heart line for '64"), the Monza Spyder ("turbocharged action for driving fun") and other model series. Lavishly illustrated with over 200 color illustrations on full- and half-size leaves of stiff stock. Also, at rear, with 105 interior upholstery samples and combinations, 101 of them spiral-bound; and 17 leaves of exterior paint samples (1 leaf containing 15 small, tipped-in samples), also spiral-bound. The full-page color art gracing the front cover and major section dividers (uncredited, but evoking the styles of such contemporary illustrators as Robert McGinnis and Barbara Walton) shows various Chevrolet automobiles at the heart of their owners' active, affluent, and cultured lives. Typed list of prices for models and options in plastic sleeve laid into plastic pocket at interior of front board.

Occasional light soiling and wear to interior, mostly to graduated thumb-tabs and spiral-bound wrappers; a few stray ink marks. Exterior lightly soiled and rubbed. A vintage piece of American automotive memorabilia in excellent condition.
