with facing English translation by Rolfe Humphries.

Fascist forces assas-

sinated the poet in 1936; Spain’s Fascist dictator Francisco Franco banned

all of García Lorca’s work.

This true first edition, published May 24, appeared three weeks before

the Spanish-language edition published in Mexico City. Among the

poems in this collection are “Ode to Walt Whitman,” “Death” and “The

King of Harlem.” Book fine, dust jacket, very nearly fine.
