Eero Saarinen on His Work

EERO SAARINEN ON HIS WORK, ILLUSTRATED WITH 57 PHOTOGRAPHS AND PLANS

SAARINEN, Eero. Eero Saarinen on His Work. New Haven and London: Yale University Press, 1962. Folio, original half white cloth, original glassine, original slipcase with mounted photograph.

First edition, with 57 photographs and plans (many of them double-page) illustrating Saarinen’s work after 1947.

The son of Eliel Saarinen, one of the founding figures of modern architecture in America, Eero is responsible for some of the most notable structures built in the 20th century, including the TWA Terminal at Kennedy Airport and the Memorial Arch in St. Louis. As Saarinen did not produce much explanatory or theoretical writing in his lifetime, this posthumously-published work (edited by his wife, Aline B. Saarinen) contains much of his printed writing on architecture.

Book fine, remnants of original glassine without spine, only minor wear to slipcase extremities. A beautiful copy.
