Elizabeth Youngstrom, a lifelong employee of Scribner’s, worked directly for Charles Scribner. This volume is the first printing of The Fifth Column, Hemingway’s first full-length play, which was inspired by his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. Also included are all of the previously published stories he had written to date, including, “The Killers” and “The Snows of Kilimanjaro.” Hanneman A16a.
