“The official portraits of the Presidents as they hang in the White House have been selected from time to time as the best of each of our Chief Executives. Most of them have been painted by order of Congress, the artists being selected for their skill and reputation, and in most instances on account of their great personal knowledge of their subjects.” Each portrait is accompanied by a page of biographical text, presenting “accurately and authoritatively the really great accomplishments of each administration.” Broadside of McKinley’s Last Speech, with marginal vignettes, laid in. Registration bookplate, dated January 24, 1902 and signed by the Secretary of the Gravure Company of America, allocating this copy to Jesse Larrabee.
Scattered marginal foxing to plates and to laid-in Broadside, light expert restoration to original binding and silk wrap-around.
