BEAUTIFULLY BOUND SET OF SCHILLER'S WORKS,
ONE OF ONLY 26 SUCH SETS, WITH HAND-COLORED PLATES
SCHILLER, Friedrich. Works. Edited by Nathan Haskell Dole. Boston: Francis A. Nicholls & Company, (1902). Ten volumes. Octavo, contemporary full red morocco, elaborately gilt-decorated boards and spines, raised bands, watered silk endpapers, white morocco gilt doublures, top edges gilt, uncut and partly unopened.
Limited "Edition Magnifique," of Schiller's works, letter P of only 26 lettered sets, with numerous plates in triple-suite (one of each suite hand-colored), magnificently bound by Macdonald and Allen in elaborate morocco-gilt with doublures.
Includes the poems, a life of Schiller by Heinrich Düntzer, and the aesthetical and philosophical essays.
A tiny bit of faint marginal dampstaining to a few text leaves, some doublures a bit soiled, spines of two volumes mildly toned. An impressive production.
