Recipient Mahlon Pitney (1858-1924) was an American jurist and Republican Party politician from New Jersey, who served in the United States Congress and as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Revell's informal survey of the world of golf is made "from the viewpoint of an amateur, to be approached not at all in the spirit of the schoolboy toward his grammar." Donovan & Murdoch 31540. Interior clean; minor discoloration to cloth near edges, spine gently toned. An extremely good inscribed copy with a nice provenance.
